California native David Johnson volunteers his skills at KSVR

David JohnsonDavid Johnson joined the KSVR volunteer staff late in 2010, starting off doing public service announcements and then moving on to become a host of Skagit Talks. In addition to hosting monthly installments of The Master Gardener, The Green Life, and Your Health, Dave periodically interviews other people about themselves and programs of interest in Skagit Valley. He is also a member of our radio-acting troupe at the station, recently portraying Dr. Doolittle in a six-part series on Imagination Station.

A native of California, Dave retired to the Valley after 30 years as a college administrator in Ohio, Missouri, and Southern California.  In addition to volunteering at KSVR, Dave is on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Mount Vernon Library, is active with the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, and is an involved member of First Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon.  He also serves as a Regent at his alma mater, Pacific Lutheran University, in Tacoma.

In addition to his volunteer efforts, Dave freelances as an auctioneer for non-profit organizations, master of ceremonies for groups large and small, a grant-writer for non-profit organizations, and does occasional video and voice-over work commercially.
